2020 has certainly been a challenging one for everyone, especially older adults and their caregivers. With your support and encouragement, Keiro was able to shift our programming to adapt to the current climate, while remaining focused on improving the quality of life of Our Community’s older adults!

Shift to Virtual Program and Events
During 2020, over 2,700 older adults have gathered together through our weekly virtual programs and events. Months of staying safe at home have also led to isolation and loneliness, which is why it is so important to stay connected with older adults wherever they call home. Although we are a long way from reaching every older adult through technology, our efforts have been a huge start and we look forward to creating new and exciting opportunities to stay in touch.
“Keiro Forums are definitely one of my positive discoveries during this COVID quarantine.”

Little Tokyo Eats – Partnership to Deliver Meals to Vulnerable Older Adults
Since April 2020, over 15,600 meals have been provided to older adults residing in Little Tokyo through the Little Tokyo Eats program. In partnership with Little Tokyo Service Center and Little Tokyo Community Council, this meal program was created to address the immediate needs of our local older adults who are most vulnerable. We will continue working with impacted local small businesses to deliver hundreds of meals weekly to high risk individuals.
“I look forward to every meal. I am so extremely grateful. Please convey my appreciation to everyone.”

Supporting Former Facilities
Keiro continues to help our former facilities provide culturally-sensitive programming and special events for its residents. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Keiro supported the front-line employees with weekly meals purchased from local small businesses.
