“What to Expect for Caregiver Conference – West LA” Video – https://youtu.be/vZFKtJ_sIXE
The theme of this conference is Cultivating a Community of Care.
Guided by the theme “Cultivating a Community of Care,” Keiro will host its first Caregiver Conference of 2026 in West Los Angeles. This event will connect caregivers with resources to strengthen their support network.
Many in Our Community experience caregiving as both an act of love and a source of stress. While caregiving can often feel isolating and overwhelming, cultivating a community of care helps caregivers find the renewal and encouragement to confidently meet challenges with greater resilience. Through workshops, discussions, and respite services, attendees will discover ways to collectively navigate care, manage expenses, and find balance in their daily lives.

Navigating Costs & Conversations
As a family caregiver and financial advisor, Takeshi M. Yamada, will share ways to plan for and navigate financial decision-making to ease caregiving-related stress. Grounded in the idea that caregiving is not meant to be done alone, this presentation will highlight how open conversations, shared planning, and trusted support can strengthen families and communities. Attendees will gain clarity and confidence and be ready to cultivate a community of care that supports both emotional and financial wellbeing.

Workshops
A. Finding the Tools For You
Participants will explore their strengths and growth areas while learning how to navigate common caregiving obstacles using strategies and resources tailored to their needs. With guidance from Angie Yeh, MASM, MSDA, Family Consultant at the Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center, attendees will discuss real-life scenarios, practice effective communication, and walk away with tools to support both themselves and their loved ones. Caregivers will discover their unique caregiving style while learning how advocacy and vulnerability can make the journey lighter.
Attendees will:
- Identify their personal caregiving style and learn how it shapes the way they navigate challenges, communication, and advocacy.
- Gain clarity on key resources, professionals, and support systems that can guide their caregiving journey with confidence.
- Collaborate with fellow caregivers through guided scenario discussions to explore practical solutions and learn from shared experiences.

B. Caring for the Caregiver
Rooted in the idea that caring for yourself strengthens your ability to care for others, this workshop will offer caregivers a supportive space to reflect on their wellbeing and build habits that make caregiving more sustainable. Following a brief presentation from Peter Gee, Little Tokyo Service Center’s Co-Executive Director, and Heather Harada, Keiro’s Director of Strategy, participants will create a personalized self-care plan that aligns with their daily realities and care responsibilities. Through discussions and practical tools, attendees will learn how to integrate self-care into their routines, engage their care network with intention, and stay grounded throughout their caregiving journey.
Attendees will:
- Explore practical ways to support their wellbeing while caring for a loved one
- Create a personalized self-care plan that incorporates their support network
- Understand how nurturing their own health contributes to a stronger, more sustainable caregiving journey
