A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a distribution of funds from your (taxable) IRA directly to a qualified charitable organization, such as Keiro. Also called IRA charitable distributions or IRA charitable rollovers, a QCD allows individuals who are 70 ½ years old or older to donate up to $105,000 total to non-profit organizations instead of taking the minimum distributions. Many individuals who are required to take the minimum distribution, but do not need it for living expenses, choose to make QCDs from their IRAs and support charitable organizations.
