Emergency Preparedness Series
From scenario-based discussions, checklists for all age groups, and go-bags, this three-part series of classes will provide attendees with a better understanding of what they will need in the case of a catastrophic event. Keiro’s Emergency Preparedness Series includes three separate programs:
• Emergency Preparedness Overview – This class will provide attendees with a better understanding of what they will need in the event of a catastrophic event as well as how to start conversations among loved ones about preparing.
• Making a Personal Go-Bag – Learn about the types of items to include in a go-bag for emergencies and review helpful resources
• Accident Prevention & First-Aid – Learn the essentials of building a first aid kit, using it effectively, and preventing accidents to stay safe

Having a sense of autonomy in choosing one’s long-term care service is instrumental for a good quality of life, but finding the right fit can be a potentially challenging and confusing ordeal. This class will break down the key steps to help you determine the right care facility or in-home care for your needs and wishes.

Being Your Own Health Advocate
Health and wellness is an important component of a good quality of life. This presentation will discuss health promotion for older adults in three areas: hearing, vision, and dental/oral health.
Fall Prevention
With around 36 million reported cases per year among older adults, falls are a public health concern. However, falls are NOT a normal part of aging and are preventable. This presentation will discuss shared concerns about falling, and to learn tips to reduce your risk of falls in and around the house.
Iyashi Care
Join us to learn more about this innovative program, a partnership between Keiro and Providence, that offers community-based palliative care to the Japanese American community in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Using a whole-person care approach, the bilingual Iyashi Care team provides guidance and support to older adults with serious and chronic illnesses and their families, as they pursue the best quality of life possible.

Ikigai: Finding Purpose
Ikigai is a Japanese term meaning “a reason/purpose for being.” Ikigai may be raising your family, spending time with your grandchildren, or participating in a cause or organization you are passionate about. Finding your ikigai and sharing it with others through meaningful interactions can help boost satisfaction in life.
