Keiro offers valuable resources and education for caregivers who support older adults to age well at home and in the community. Since 2001, Keiro has offered nearly 20 caregiver conferences for thousands of Japanese American and Japanese older adults and their caregivers. This free conference provides new tools and practical resources for current and future caregivers through a series of seminars, a resource fair, professional consultations, health screenings and more. As we care for the older adults in our lives, Keiro believes it is crucial to ensure that caregivers are not only recognized, but properly equipped to confidently provide the quality of care our older adults deserve.

Iyashi Care Panel: Family Dynamics
Moderator: Kevin Onishi, Program & Innovation Manager, Keiro
Caregiving for a loved one alone can be challenging, but it can also be equally challenging when multiple family members are involved. Determining who should make care decisions, sharing the financial costs, or even just arranging care schedules can become complicated. Learn more about how Iyashi Care can help you with the challenges of managing family dynamics in caregiving.
Breakout Sessions
We are proud to present three different breakout sessions. Please choose two – each option will be repeated in the morning and afternoon breakout sessions.
A. Mobile Caregiving
Speaker: Makoto Kotani, Program Associate, Keiro
As technology has become more advanced, caregivers now have greater ability to assist from their smartphones than ever before. In this breakout session, learn about some mobile applications that can enhance the way we provide care for our loved ones.
B. Hands-On Caregiving

Learn from a trained professional about how to properly provide hands-on care to your loved one in both a safe and comfortable manner.
C. Preparing for In-Home Care
Speaker: Becky Happach, Manager of Business Development, Home Care Assistance
As older adults now prefer to age at home, families have come to increasingly rely on in-home care. In this presentation, learn about the process of finding an in-home care provider, preparing for them and what to look out for as you undergo the vetting process.
The Caregiver Conference is FREE to the community and is made possible by Keiro along with support from our community partners, donors, and volunteers.
