Denwa Program (NEW)
The Denwa Program is a new pilot program designed to address social isolation among older adults in Our Community. The goal of this program is to reconnect older adults through telephone conversations as well as learn about their legacies.
Community members are able to nominate socially isolated individuals whom they feel could benefit from a series of social conversations. A person who is socially isolated might include those who have stopped participating in community center events, someone who currently lives alone, or someone whose social circle has gotten smaller. If you know of an individual who might be socially isolated, we encourage you to contact Keiro to nominate them as a program participant.
[Pilot Program Duration]
Summer 2019 – Fall 2019
[Eligible Participants]
Nominees should be 65 years of age or older and show signs of being socially isolated.
[Activity]
The nominated participant will engage in ongoing phone conversations over the course of three months. Each call will last for 30-60 minutes and through these conversations, we hope to learn more about their legacies.
For more information on the Denwa Program and to nominate a loved one, please call Keiro at 213.873.5718 or email [email protected].
Registration is required for this pilot program as space is very limited.
Nominees will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
