LOS ANGELES, July 9, 2024 – Keiro announced its 2025 Grants Program cycle, which will continue to focus on funding programs that enhance the quality of life for older adults and caregivers in the Japanese American and Japanese community of Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties.
Keiro’s Grants Program strengthens a network of local community hubs that increase access to programs and services, supporting older adults to age in a manner of their choosing. This program will invest in both new and ongoing programs that align with one or more elements of Keiro’s definition of quality of life: health and wellness, purpose, connectedness, security, and autonomy.
“With the vast majority of older adults wanting to and actually aging at home, programs and activities in their local neighborhoods are vital to enhancing their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing,” said Beverly Ito, Keiro president & CEO. “The work being done, often by dedicated volunteers in addition to staff, is so impactful, and we look forward to continuing our support of these amazing organizations.”
The 2025 Grants Program will offer grants of up to $20,000 to qualified applicants through a competitive, committee-driven review process. Priority will be given to applicant organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $1 million, as well as recurring or periodic programs that provide sustained support, rather than one-time events. The grant funding period for the 2025 cycle will be up to 10 months (March 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025). Grant applications may be submitted for program development, capacity building (including staffing), and core operating support. Capital projects will not be considered. The application deadline for this year’s grants cycle is 5:00 p.m. PDT on Friday, September 6, 2024.
The goals of Keiro’s Grants Program are:
- To enhance the quality of life of older adults and their caregivers in the Japanese American and Japanese community of Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties
- To reach out to and/or reestablish connections with older adults and caregivers, while providing support through community programs and events, and increasing the capacity to offer these services
- To promote accessible, culturally-sensitive programs and services to Our Community
Keiro will also offer two, one-hour educational online workshops to discuss eligibility requirements, program goals, the application process, and changes to the 2025 grants program. Registration is required to attend the workshops and can be completed at keiro.org/grants.
Workshops are scheduled as follows:
