Keiro 50th Anniversary Celebration to Be Held on October 15 A Time of Reunion, Reflection, and Celebration for Our Community
Keiro Senior HealthCare will hold its 50th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon and Genki Living Expo at the Pasadena Convention Center on Saturday, October 15.
The celebration is recognition not only of “all things Keiro” but of the community whose values and culture Keiro embodies. The Expo is a free event, open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The luncheon is a once-in-a-lifetime ticketed fundraising event to benefit Keiro’s endowment fund. The Celebration Luncheon will be an afternoon of reunion, reflection, and celebration for all who have been a part of Keiro’s history. Founders, residents, staff members, volunteers, family members, and supporters will have an opportunity to connect and reconnect with others from the “Keiro family.”
Guests will enjoy a special performance by Daniel Ho, a six-time GRAMMY Award winning producer, featured slack key guitarist, and artist in the “Best Hawaiian Music Album” category. While this accomplished singer and songwriter has shared his music as a soloist throughout the U.S., Japan, Europe, Guam, Tasmania, he has also taken the time to share his music with seniors at Keiro.
“My wife’s grandmother was at Keiro Nursing Home several years ago,” explains Ho. “Keiro does good work for our community, and I am looking forward to being a part of this celebration.”
Everyone involved in the luncheon program has a personal connection to Keiro. Master of Ceremonies Rob Fukuzaki, weekday sports anchor of ABC7 Eyewitness News, had his grandmother at Keiro Nursing Home. The Grateful Crane Ensemble, which traces its beginning to performances at Keiro, will also perform a song.
To commemorate 50 years of enhancing the quality of senior life in our community, luncheon guests will receive the limited-edition publication, 50 Years, 50 Stories. This full-color book highlights some of the people, events, culture, and values that have shaped Keiro into the vibrant community it is today.
“Keiro at 50 is a culmination of the combined efforts and sacrifices of so many people,” said Shawn Miyake, president and CEO of Keiro. “As we celebrate our legacy, offering peace-of-mind to our community through a tradition of caring, we embrace our future, supporting our community to age with confidence.”
All net proceeds from the event, including the opportunity drawing for a 2011 Honda Accord generously donated by American Honda Motor Co., Inc., will benefit Keiro’s endowment fund. The fund helps to ensure Keiro’s ability to continue meeting the ever-changing health care needs of seniors at Keiro Nursing Home, South Bay Keiro Nursing Home, Keiro Intermediate Care Facility, Keiro Retirement Home or in the community through The Institute for Healthy Aging at Keiro.
Individual tickets are $100, and sponsorship opportunities are still available. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Pasadena Convention Center Ballroom, 300 E. Green St., Pasadena, CA 91101. Visit Keiro’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon page at www.keiro.org for more information.
